Dived with Victor, who has 36 years diving, over 20,500 dives, and over 7 years underwater!
First dive in open water with Transpac wing - tank too high, otherwise excellent. Had snorkelled for 20 mins earlier, and seen more species of fish than in all previous dives put together, probably.
This dive was to check my buoyancy & proficiency before others [dives]. Instructor was Victor, greying black guy with 36 yrs' experience! Was slightly nervous - no dives for a while, but went from 200bar to 65bar, so not too bad.
But - the fish and other fauna/flora! A turtle! Looked big until I saw my hand against it (touched its shell after Victor had) - maybe a foot long.
Corals included - sea fan, wide mesh sea fan, deepwater sea fan, yellow pencil, great star, mustard hill (?), brain (excellent), plate & sheet & lettuce & lots of wire coral.
Lots of long spined urchins with tiny yellow fish cleaning (?juvenile yellowhead wrasse?).
Fish included - spotted morays (2), yellow goatfish, porcupinefish (excellent), needlefish, spotlight parrotfish (big!), bicolor damselfish, dusky damselfish, groupers, permits (?) & much else, including sponges, esp. netted barrel sponge & touch-me-not sponge.
What a dive!
What a place! Great snorkelling, too - 2-3m gives you lots to see!
